​We are Building HERStory in Fort Wayne
and we need your help!

St. Joseph Missions Women's Shelter (SJMWS) will go beyond offering a place to stay by creating an individualized, holistic Path to Hope for each guest, leading to self-sufficiency and the fulfillment of her glorious potential. Using existing community resources and internal programs to address causes for homelessness, the guests will optimize their time at the shelter by learning work-ready and life skills.

​These resources will be delivered on a customized basis to help guests see that they are worthy of the heartening future that awaits them beyond the shelter. This support will embolden each guest to become the lead change-agent of her life! ​

YOU CAN HELP empower guests!
​Support our innovative initiative by:

• Curating books that spark the spirit, stir the heart and rekindle a passion for reading within our guests as they navigate their journey to self-reliance.
  
  
• Featuring impactful books selected by compassionate community members LIKE YOU, who will take a moment to inscribe an inspirational message affirming guests’ self-worth.
  
  
• Offering each guest—who can check out, read, and revel in your book as she gathers encouragement and drive from your inscription—the means to record a review for her homeless sisters who may seek out the same book.

Of course, these books need a proper home. Thus, we are building—in collaboration with Fort Wayne Community Schools Construction Trades and Jensen Cabinet Co.—bookcases and bookshelves. A private donor sponsoring the cataloging, checkout, and review software system. Our goal is to house 500 inscribed books in bookcases and bookshelves throughout the shelter.

Please join us in Building HERStory by:

• Providing an impactful hardcover book inscribed with your inspirational well-wishes. These books should represent a spectrum of genres and literacy levels (picture books are welcome!). St. Joseph Missions, Inc. is enrolled in Amazon Smile, so you can give twice!
  
  
• Donating funds to purchase: materials to build and paint the shelving; books requested by guests; and supplies for guests to create "thank you" bookmarks for donors.​
