Same Mission, New Look!
What began in 2013 with the grass roots effort of Catholics on a Mission offering meals and hope to the homeless in downtown Fort Wayne has transformed into a movement. In their outreach to feed the poor, advocates recognized the growing need to assist a vulnerable population – single homeless women. What they soon discovered was that in Allen County there are few if any beds allotted to our single homeless sisters on an emergency basis. Something had to be done. St. Joseph Missions, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating our community’s first emergency shelter for single homeless women, was created. But it’s more than providing a temporary refuge – with your help, we’re building a path to hope by ensuring a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that honors guests’ dignity. St. Joseph Missions will connect our guests to community resources, provide life skills instruction, and empower them to fulfill their glorious potential. In preparation for this historic moment in our community, we reflected on our efforts to connect and engage with people. It became apparent that our communications around who we are and who we will serve needed a transformation. So in the spring of 2020, we set out on a journey to create a new logo that embodied the essence of our mission while staying true to our Catholic roots. After considerable research, planning, design, and input, we are proud to share our new logo. Foremost, the swallow symbolizes hope – something our guests may have little of due to their unfortunate circumstances. We will help these women to believe in themselves and empower them on their journey forward. The gold represents the presence of God and is commonly associated with St. Joseph. Meanwhile, the blue symbolizes the atmosphere we want to secure: tranquility, peace, and calmness. Finally, you’ll notice how the Swallow flies upward and onward, representing the continuous hope and progress of the guests we will serve. So much progress has been made over the past year. The hard work and generosity of many culminates with the opening of St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter in spring of 2021. Join us in creating history by donating to our cause. Together, we can be a beacon of hope to our single homeless sisters, who need us more than ever. You hold the power for change. |
